Civil Procedures

There are three types of cases that may be filed in the Tribal Court.  They include the following:

  • Civil matters arising within the jurisdiction of the Tribe and which the Tribe or an enrolled member of the Tribe is a party
  • Constitutional question cases
  • Cases that involve a Tribal code

A civil action begins by filing a paper with the Court called a civil complaint.  A civil complaint is a legal document that tells the judge and defendant(s) how and why you believe the defendant(s) violated the law in a way that injured you and what you want the Court to do about it.

The Seminole Tribal Court’s civil complaint form is included on this website under the civil procedure forms section
